Internal Medicine Specialist work out of the Dingwall Medical Clinic or the Dryden Regional Health Centre
- Dryden services a population of 15,000 with a high rate of chronic diseases including diabetes and heart disease.
- Receive referrals from a medical team of 13 Rural Physicians/Emergency or Anesthesia, 1 Emergency Medicine Physician and 2 full time General Surgeons.
- Visiting specialists
- General Surgeons – scope of practice ranges from laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy, biopsies of breast and other tissues, mastectomies, carpal tunnel surgery, skin grafts, varicose vein surgery, herniorraphies to abdomino-perineal resections
- Orthopedic Surgeon – total and partial knee replacements, arthroscopes -1 week/2 month
- Gyne surgeon – 1 week/month
- ENT specialist – 3 days/3 months
- Receive support from the Dryden Area Family Health Team which includes a team of health care professionals such as family doctors, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacist, registered dietician, clinical psychologist, mental health therapist and others. This team will help and support the management of chronic diseases as well as early detection.
- Receive referrals from surrounding communities of Red Lake, Ear Falls, Ignace and Sioux Lookout.
- Referrals to other specialties are to Winnipeg or Thunder Bay
- Work in the Dryden Regional Health Centre or the Dingwall Medical Clinic.
- Remuneration is fee for service.
